Nathan Thomas is an impressive young man. A young New Zealand hypnotist, he is also a co-founder of the International Association for Teenage Hypnotists. Using the Internet to connect with other hypnosis fans and experts around the world is natural for Nathan, and he has a blog called "Key's to the Mind" where he has videos, articles and interviews about hypnosis and NLP - as well as several other web sites.
I've been watching Nathan's web sites and progress for a few months now, and I must say that he is one of the new hypnosis whiz kids. Not only is he smart, determined, and excited, but he is learning and improving an all fronts quickly. His interviewing skills, for example, have improved dramatically in the last few months. We could all learn something from Nathan's openess and excitement around learning and "going for it."
He's posted two new interviews this weekend, both are well worth the listen.
The first interview is with Debra Berndt, who offers wonderful information on how she found success with hypnotherapy in her own life, and how she jump-started her hypnotherapy practice. She specializes in hypnotherapy for love, relationships and dating. She also offers fabulous information on the hypnotherapist's subconscious mind interacting with the client's subconscious mind, on focus for specialties, a couple of techniques for clearing energy, a few book recommendations, and business start-up tips and process. She has a wonderful, open and positive view on the industry and on people. She says many wonderful and key things, but one of my favorite quotes is, "I can talk [openly] about whatever secrets and tips I want because there is plenty of work for everybody!" Nathan also asks her opinion on the speed seduction phenomenon. Debra is a boon to our industry and really expresses caring and truth with great grounding.
The second interview is with Judith Prager, who trains medical personnel - doctors, nurses, EMTs, 911 operators, and so on - how to speak and unconsciously communicate caring & confidence, healing & support to those who are severely injured, in shock, or are undergoing surgery. Those of you who attended the Global Hypnosis eSummit this last weekend will recognize the name Judith Prager, as she has a presentation there about Verbal First Aid. She talks about that in this interview as well. She is clear and informative on direct and indirect suggestion techniques and how they are used in medical situations. She talks about the magic paragraph used in a study to increase survivial rate and healing rate. It's touching and informative.
She also gives some background on the genesis of her book, "Journey to Alternity: Transformational Healing Through Stories and Metaphors
," where she reports on several real life stories of miracle phenomena, including her own experience with past life regression.
This show is an excellent listen for a good perspective and understanding on how hypnosis has really made breakthroughs with the medical community. Judith is at quite the established leading front of modern medical hypnosis.
A great quote from Judith is, "How we speak affects the body. There are words and ways to say them that mean the difference between panic and calm, pain and comfort, and even life and death."
