A virtual conference of over 300 professionals, attending via the web. It's certainly 2009, isn't it? I must say, as wonderful as in-person conferences are (and they are great), I'm not going to miss the air travel hassles and costs, hotel expenses, rental cars, or parking at the convention center.
But I am going to miss the people. So what can we do?
AAPH is sponsoring the Virtual Meet-n-Greet Lounge in Second Life for the days of the conference. It's a 3-D virtual world where your avatar can meet the avatars of other conference attendees and chat (both text and voice), watch videos, and even dance!

If you are new to Second Life, this may not be the time to dive in, as the learning curve for operating your avatar and getting around in-world can be from 4-8 hours! If you'd like to make the leap, though, we'll be ready to help you with links to beginner training areas of high quality, and we'll be happy to help teach you fun things, tips and tricks at the events.
